Poor Richard’s author

On Tuesday the kid and his friend got into an argument at school. I asked my son to tell me how the argument went.
He calmly repeated what he remembered:
“I said, ‘You did it on purpose,’
and he said, ‘No, I did it on accident,’
and I said, ‘No, you did it on purpose,’
and he said, ‘No, I did it on accident,’
and I said, ‘No, you did it on purpose,’
and he said, ‘No, I did it on accident,’
and I said, ‘No, you did it on purpose,’
and he said, ‘No, I did it on accident.’”
The kid had no idea that he was virtually quoting Poor Richard’s Almanack:
Many a long dispute among Divines may be thus abridged, It is so: It is not so; It is so: It is not so.
